Welcome...

Saint Joseph Church

For nearly 150 years, the people of St. Joseph have worked and worshiped together for the greater glory of God. Our beloved parish is the first Catholic Church to be established in Oil City just before the end of the Civil War in 1864, and we continue to work to spread the Word of our Lord and serve His people with faithfulness and conviction. We feel a strong connection to those who have gone before us, leaving a legacy of love. We look forward to continuing that legacy and welcome with open arms all who wish to worship here.                                                Photo courtesy of Mrs. Mary Kay Lowery

The people of our parish pride themselves on being a welcoming community and on being “one big family”.  However our concern and support extends much further than Venango County.  St. Joseph parishioners are active in outreach throughout the community and beyond, as we strive to reflect the Gospel message that “God so loved the world”.

Our Holy Father Pope Benedict XVI recalled on the day he began his ministry as the Universal Shepherd of the Church that “The Church is alive!  She is alive because Christ is alive!  He is truly Risen!”  Yes, the Church in Oil City – here at St. Joseph is certainly alive.

I welcome you to our new parish website.  I hope it allows you to gain insight into the St. Joseph Parish Community and how we by word, deed and example show God “all glory, laud and honor!”

May God Bless you in His abundance!
